Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)

We are a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school.

We focus on teaching appropriate behaviours and reward acceptable behaviours.

We treat behaviour in the same way as all other learning areas, if there is a deficit, we teach it. We are very clear about or expectations.

Our 3 school rules are

  • Be respectful
  • Be resilient
  • Be your best

In addition to these rules we have our behaviour codes which are taught in every class. A focus behaviour code is chosen each fortnight. It is introduced as an entertaining movie at the whole school assembly and is then followed up with opportunities to practise in class.

Children are rewarded with points for displaying the focus behaviour, or any of the 3 school rules. These points can then be used to buy raffle entries or privileges from the class shop.

All of the emphasis on behaviour is to celebrate the appropriate behaviours. Inappropriate behaviour is dealt with in a low key and private manner.

We have a comprehensive data collection system tracking both the positive and negative behaviour trends, in order to implement changes where necessary, to address inappropriate behaviours.
